Angelica Root Essential Oil

  This essential oil comes from the rhizome of the plant. It is a native plant in Northern and Eastern Europe.  It is called Angelica, because it normally blooms around May 8th, which is St. Michaels day (the archangel) The herb is included in the kiquers, Chartreuse, Gin and Benedictine liqueur.Angelica is used in perfumes, and candied for cake decorations and confectionery.  It was once considered the antidote for the Black Plague.  The roots, rhizomes and stems are steam distilled.

  There are many therapeutic properties including:
● Antispasmodic - helps relieve muscle spasms
● Carminative- relieves flatulence
● depurative - cleanses waste and toxins from the body
● diaphoretic- Increases perspiration
● digestive- helping the digestive system
● diuretic - helps your body get rid of unneeded water and salt through urination
● hepatic- helps rid your liver of toxins
● emmenagouge - stimulating blood flow in the pelvic region and uterus
● expectorant - helps bring up mucus and other material from the lungs, bronchi, and trachea.
● febrifuge - aids in reducing fever
● nervine - acting therapeutically on the nerves
● Stimulant - temporarily improving mental functions, physical functions or both

● Stomachic -act most directly on the stomach, stimulate gastric digestion and relieve the discomfort of generalized stomach pain and cramping.

● Blended with a carrier oil or in a bath,  to assist in detoxifying the lymphatic system, digestive problems, helps with colds and flus, and fights fungal growths 
● Blended in a cream or lotion - can be used to assist in circulation, gout, arthritis, sciatica, migraines, colds and flus, encourages natural production of estrogen, aids in regulating and easing painful periods 
● Aromatherapy use - blends well with basil, chamomile, geranium, grapefruit, lavender, mandarin, grapefruit, lemon and patchouli
