The stainless steel roll top bread box has a nice modern look. The roll top design slides up and down easily. There are rubber stops at the bottom, so there will be no noise if the lid were shut hard. There is also rubber on the bottom to prevent the metal from scratching your countertop.
If you make, or buy fresh baked brrad, then a bread box is a must have for you.If you try to store fresh bread in a bag it can turn into a foam or hard like a brick. In order for the crust to stay crisp, bread has to breathe. Putting bread in a bag, causes the bread to produce moisture. In a bteadbox, the moisture from the bread raises the humidity, but air circulation keeps it from getting as moist as if it were in a bag. If bread is left in a paper bag, it will dry out in about a day. This is why the fresh bread that you bought yesterday is more like a brick today. * Throw away the paper bag, the bread came in, the humidity causes the paper to get damp, which could cause soggy, chewy crusts.
* Do not overcrowd, air circulation is important. The more bread in the box, the higher the humidity, making the bread less crisp.
